The only audience you actually own

Every other channel is rented. Search rankings move, reach gets throttled, ad costs rise — the list is the one asset nobody can adjust underneath you.

01

Deliverability is the whole game, and it is invisible

The uncomfortable part of email is that a message can be well written, well timed and well targeted, and still never be seen — because authentication was never configured, the sending domain has no reputation, or the content pattern reads as bulk to a filter.

None of that shows up in an open rate. It shows up as silence, which is easy to misread as the copy being wrong. Authentication records, a warmed sending domain, list hygiene and a genuine unsubscribe path are the unglamorous foundation, and they are the part most businesses skip.

02

What gets built, in the order it should be built

Sequencing matters here more than in most channels, because sending to a badly built list from an unauthenticated domain does damage that takes months to undo.

  1. 01

    Authenticate first

SPF, DKIM and DMARC on the sending domain before a single campaign goes out. This is the difference between the inbox and the spam folder, and it is not something to retrofit after a bad send.

  2. 02

    Earn the address

A reason to subscribe that is worth an email address, and a form placed where somebody has just been given a reason to care. Bought and scraped lists poison the domain that sends to them.

  3. 03

    Automate the obvious

Welcome, enquiry follow-up, abandoned enquiry, post-purchase, reactivation. These run once and keep working, and they outperform broadcasts because they arrive when the person is already thinking about you.

  4. 04

    Then broadcast

Regular sending only after the foundation holds — and to a list that is pruned, because sending to people who never open is what tells a filter you are worth filtering.

03

Built to survive being forwarded

Email rendering is genuinely harder than the web: no shared standard, clients that strip styling, and a meaningful share of readers on a phone in a dark theme. A layout that assumes modern CSS will arrive as a stack of unstyled fragments somewhere.

So templates get built the defensive way — structured to degrade cleanly, tested against the clients your list actually uses rather than the ones that are convenient, and checked in both light and dark before anything sends.

Email marketing is scoped around your goals and quoted after a conversation — not from a fixed package.
